AGA Ladies Complete Race For Life - July 2009
Nine valiant ladies from Spillers completed a 5km Race for Life on Sunday at Killerton House, near Exeter in Devon. Following a mass 10 minute rain soaked warm up, the evening dash through beautiful countryside started on time at 7pm. In a blaze of pink glory, 2000 smiling Paula Radcliff impersonators steamed through the starting gate and quickly disappeared up the first hill, buoyed on by loud cheers from countless numbers of supporting friends and family.
The Aga Ladies, apparently wishing to give everyone else a chance, decided to pace themselves and soak up the friendly atmosphere instead. It took a mere 23 minutes for the first finisher to appear and another hour or so for the remaining 1999 lasses to cross the finish line. Many of the race goers looked remarkably happy considering their strenuous efforts, although a few would certainly have benefited from a stiff drink and a good night's sleep.
The final sponsorship tally is still being counted, but the event aims to raise in excess of £100,000. With the support of so many wonderful ladies, it's a target that certainly looks achievable.

The male trainer successfully got all 200 ladies warming up in unison - well almost!!

No pain, no gain, as someone said!
